Wine, Cheese and Laughs- 2008

“Wine, Cheese and Laughs” may have been the theme for the sixth annual Jewish Experience fundraiser, but certainly more was showcased than just great kosher vintages and dairy nibbles.

The Jewish Experience (TJE) held its sixth annual Wine, Cheese and Laughs gala fundraiser February 9, in Denver, Colorado. Nearly four hundred people attended the event in the spectacular Daniels Great Hall of the Cable Center.  They enjoyed an evening of stellar entertainment and delicious wines, hors d’oeuvres, sushi and desserts.   Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed upbeat tunes brilliantly performed by a local jazz quartet.  An uplifting Havdalah service initiated the evening's formal program.  Then, nationally-acclaimed comedian and regular host on The Learning Channel and Fox Network programs, Wayne Cotter, regaled the audience with a hilarious comedy routine which included lampooning instruction manuals, technology, emergency room visits,  family relationships, and more!

 

 

The Jewish Experience also presented a dynamic and clever video touting its outreach activities.  The video included many short clips of members and event participants describing their impressions and feelings about The Jewish Experience.  Among their favorite elements of TJE programming were “the friendliness” of the TJE's approach to Judaism, and of course, “the Oreo Cookies” and other delicious foods served at TJE events. The 2008 "Wine, Cheese and Laughs" event was the highlight of another year’s worth of outreach by The Jewish Experience.  The event attracted people from every corner of Denver's Jewish community — young and old, single and married, observant and totally unaffiliated.  “It’s beautiful to see such a large gathering of the Jewish community,” commented TJE Director Ahron Y. Wasserman.  “Many people tell us what a great mix of people come to our events.  The spectrum of Jewish life in Denver is truly represented by our amazing members, friends and supporters.”  The Wine and Cheese event has grown every year since its conception in 2003; a year that also marked the opening of The Jewish Experience Center in the Denver Jewish Community Center (JCC).  The TJE Center in the JCC still serves as their main office and point of contact with Denver's Jewish community.
